Burn-out

burn-out

Burnout is an extreme form of stress. It happens when you have overloaded yourself over a longer period of time. Especially so when combined with an unhealthy lifestyle. Examples of which are going to bed too late, high alcohol consumption and broken biorhythms.

The subconscious loaded with stress

With burn-out, a lot of stress has been stored in the subconscious mind. So much, that this stress continuously manifests itself at the edge of consciousness. The consciousness has therefore become smaller. As a result, the capacity to handle this stress mentally is further reduced. This extreme stress also causes a continuous fear response of the body. The result is a lasting feeling of fear. When continued over a longer period of time, it often leads to the development of chronic hyperventilation.

Vicious circles

Burnout is a difficult condition to get rid of. Because the body is in a continuous anxiety reaction, the stress usually increases. The main caused for this is the patient not understanding what is going on. This creates more and more fears. In particular, we often see hypochondriacal fears developing ov er time. As with hyperventilation syndrome, the patient ends up in vicious circles: stress => anxiety => more stress => more anxiety => and so on.

Because chronic hyperventilation has similar vicious circles, people with burnout are often even more affected by the hyperventilation symptoms. The anxiety reactions and how we respond to them, usually produce a progressively worsening syndrome.

Reduce the stress

As with chronic hyperventilation, the first step is to understand what is going on. Then the stress in the nervous system must be gradually reduced. That can be done through antidepressant medication. Or alternatively with yoga and / or meditation. In addition, a healthy lifestyle is an absolute necessity. Quiet walking and cycling can contribute to the reduction of stress.

Burn-out and HyperVen

Doing HyperVen therapy in a burn-out situation that also involves chronic hyperventilation is certainly possible and also recommended. However, in these cases often a combination of other stress-reducing therapies and / or relaxation exercises is necessary. A combination with yoga or meditation is even better. The standard HyperVen therapy duration often takes longer than the usual 4 months in burn-out situations.
